Church History
In 1982, Bill Krause, pastor at Family Community Church, left a successful business
career to enter the full-time ministry. For the next two years he attended Rhema
Bible Training Center. During the time prior to graduation, God dropped in his heart
a vision for a church and the plan to carry out that vision. Upon completion of
his training in Tulsa, God sent Bill and his family to Sacramento, California to
put God’s plan into action.
On July 5, 1985, the vision that God had placed in Pastor Krause’s heart came
to pass—Family Community Church had its first service. From that day until
now God has continued to build a church where He is developing and maturing saints
in a powerful way. Currently the church has 500 - 600 people gather to worship on
Sundays. In addition to the three services on Sunday and Tuesday midweek service,
the church has bible studies and classes during the week and a newly adopted Bible
College program.
Family Community Church’s purpose is to bring together people to experience
the fullness of God in everyday life. People who attend the church are experiencing
and receiving God in a new and exciting way through the teaching of the Word, dynamic
and innovative children’s programs, and involvement in both the local church
and the surrounding communities. Pastor Bill Krause strongly believes in developing
and training the saints, knowing that the power of God will be manifested to change
both their lives and the lives of others around them.
There is also a strong commitment to and participation in the surrounding community.
Family Community Church has been an active member of the North Highlands Chamber
of Commerce, served as fiscal sponsor of North Highlands Children’s Coalition
for four years, and a chief partner with many organizations located at the former
McClellan Air Force Base, now McClellan Business Park. In addition, the church sponsors
the annual Community Clean-up Project, graffiti abatement program, neighborhood
clean-ups, and community appreciation dinners for the politicians, sheriff, and
fire departments. Each year we host the Community Awards Banquet, and ongoing Senior
Services Program.
Family Community Church, located at 6331 Watt Avenue, is an interdenominational
Christian church where all are welcome and encouraged to come. As the name suggests,
there is a strong emphasis on the family and the community. Many families have been
brought back together, individual lives turned around, and the community positively
impacted by the practical everyday teaching that goes forth during the services.
